My Journey!

When I was young, I was taught to lead with care and fair play. Raised by a single mom who dedicated her life to public service, I witnessed her selflessly put others above herself. Her sacrifices for the greater good deeply influenced me. I see a lot of her in me. Throughout my career, I have dedicated myself to serving others, from teaching to community engagement. These experiences have ingrained in me the values of equity, fairness, and community.

My father, a musical genius, taught me how to think outside the box. This creative approach has been instrumental in my leadership, allowing me to develop innovative solutions to everyday challenges. As the founder of PT Chat (Parent-Teacher Chat), I provide parents with actionable tips, strategies, and engaging activities to support their children at home by leveraging the power of artificial intelligence. This initiative combines my passion for education with technological innovation to address the ever-present challenge of family engagement in schools, showcasing my ability to creatively and innovatively solve complex problems.

My journey began as a special education teacher, inspired by my younger brother, who struggled with a learning disability. He found more love outside of school than within, leading him down a path of crime. Determined to prevent other students from facing similar fates, I dedicated myself to teaching students who reminded me of my brother. During my ten years of teaching, I witnessed the devastating impact of gun violence, losing five students. This tragic experience made me realize that our students need more than just good teachers and schools to live successful lives. Consequently, I became involved in policy, advocacy, and community engagement to ensure our students live in optimal conditions to truly excel in life.

This work gives my life profound meaning, integrating all my past efforts into a mission that aligns with my core values and aspirations. I am not only committed, but also capable of driving positive change within our community. Together, we can advocate for better policies, resources, and community support systems, building a stronger, more equitable community where every child can succeed. Our collective efforts will lead to lasting positive change, and I am dedicated to seeing this mission through.
